Meet Cynthia. For years, she believed she was doing everything she was supposed to do.

Living in the UK with type 2 diabetes, she followed the conventional advice she was given: eat a low-carbohydrate diet, take her medications, and attend regular checkups.

Her healthcare team repeatedly told her she was "managing well." But Cynthia didn't believe them.

Her A1c continued climbing, she required multiple diabetes medications, and deep down she knew her blood sugar wasn't where it should be.

She wasn't looking to simply manage diabetes. She wanted to reverse the direction her health was heading.

Questioning the Advice She Had Been Given

When Cynthia was first diagnosed, she managed her diabetes through diet alone. Eventually, that wasn't enough.

She was prescribed Metformin, and later additional medications, while continuing to hear that her blood sugar was "acceptable."

But as her A1c climbed into the mid-7% range, she became increasingly frustrated.

"I don't know why you say I'm managing it," she remembers telling her diabetes nurse. "I'm not managing it."

She knew that requiring three medications to maintain an elevated A1c wasn't the future she wanted.

At the same time, she had struggled with her weight for years, repeatedly losing large amounts of weight only to gain it back because her eating habits never truly changed.

She realized something deeper had to change if she wanted lasting results.

Discovering Mastering Diabetes

After hearing about Mastering Diabetes, Cynthia bought the book and began learning about insulin resistance.

What she discovered challenged much of what she had previously been taught.

For the first time, she understood why simply restricting carbohydrates wasn't addressing the underlying problem.

Around the same time, she also began developing peripheral neuropathy.

Although her symptoms were still mild, they served as an important wake-up call.

She realized that unless she made meaningful changes, the complications of diabetes could continue progressing.

That realization motivated her to fully commit to the Mastering Diabetes Coaching Program.

Today, Cynthia's A1c has dropped to 5.1%.

She has lost nearly 85 pounds, discontinued every diabetes medication she was taking, and feels more optimistic about her future than she has in years.

For Cynthia, these results represent much more than improved lab numbers. They represent a completely different way of living.

Coaching Made the Difference

Cynthia credits much of her success to the ongoing support she received through Coaching.

Her weekly coaching calls provided accountability, encouragement, and practical solutions whenever challenges came up.

She also learned simple strategies that made the lifestyle sustainable.

Instead of cooking every meal from scratch, she began batch cooking recipes, stocking her freezer with healthy meals, and preparing enough food to last several days.

That preparation made healthy choices much easier, even on busy or low-energy days.

She also discovered just how many delicious recipes were available.

One surprise was realizing she could easily adapt many of her favorite vegan recipes simply by removing the oil, making them fully aligned with the Mastering Diabetes approach.

More Than Better Blood Sugar

Although lowering her A1c was a major victory, Cynthia noticed improvements throughout her body.

Because of spinal stenosis, her mobility remains limited while she waits for surgery. But after losing weight, climbing stairs became noticeably easier.

The pressure on her knees decreased significantly, and many everyday activities became more comfortable.

She also sleeps well, has more energy, and feels confident that the lifestyle she's built will support her health for years to come.

Rather than worrying about what complications may lie ahead, she feels hopeful about the future.

What Cynthia Wants Others to Know

Looking back, Cynthia considers joining Mastering Diabetes one of the best investments she has ever made.

She believes the program gave her much more than lower blood sugar.

It gave her a healthier lifestyle, practical tools she can maintain long term, and confidence that she's reducing her risk of future complications.

Her advice to anyone considering the program is simple: Don't doubt yourself. Just give it a try.

"You've got nothing to lose," she says, "and everything to gain."
