Open Position: Research Assistant Internship

Position Description
This role is crucial for advancing our mission to educate people on reversing insulin resistance via a low-fat, whole-food, plant-based diet. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with the concepts presented in the book "Mastering Diabetes" and passionate about researching and disseminating information on the benefits of plant-based diets in reversing insulin resistance via a low-fat, whole-food, plant-based diet.
Responsibilities
- Research Identification and Analysis: Proactively find new research studies about diabetes and related metabolic complications. Critically analyze and organize this research to support our educational efforts.
- Content Development: Translate complex research findings into easily understandable, bite-sized content suitable for long and short social media videos, blog posts, and scientific presentations.
- Citation Management: Maintain a comprehensive and highly organized database of research materials in our existing Zotero database.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the cofounders to help them prepare for videos and in-person presentations.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a program (or completed a degree) at an accredited university in a dietetics program, nutrition program, or health sciences program
- Strong background in plant-based nutrition, specifically in the context of chronic disease reversal using food as medicine
- Must have read Mastering Diabetes and be familiar with its principles and scientific background
- Familiar with the work of other plant-based doctors including Dr. Greger, Dr. Barnard, Dr. Ornish, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, and/or Dr. Esselstyn
- Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Experienced at reading and analyzing scientific literature from Pubmed, Google Scholar, and other online research databases
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, engaging, and informative content
- Experience in scientific writing and presentation
- Proficient in the use of digital tools for data management and content creation
- Able to work approximately 4-6 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months with a possibility of becoming a paid position in the future

Open Position: Coaching Enrollment Specialist

Position Description
Mastering Diabetes has been helping people reverse insulin resistance and improve their quality of life for many years now!
We help our clients through live masterclasses, online programs, recipes, retreats, and personalized coaching.
There has been so much interest in the coaching program that it’s now time to bring on a person solely dedicated to enrollment.
The coaching enrollment manager will help prospective clients learn about their options for coaching and walk them through the sales and enrollment process.
We care deeply about our clients needs and know that it is important for each client to be matched with the correct program and coach to achieve their goals. Our coaching enrollment manager will be doing this fun and rewarding work.
This position will work directly with and report to our co-founders, Cyrus and Robby.
This is a flexible part-time position, where you’ll need to take initiative and work independently to be successful at serving our clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Coaching Enrollment Manager
- Manage the flow of prospective clients through the sales and enrollment process with our existing software programs.
- Guiding prospective clients to make a decision that is in alignment with their goals
- Communicating with prospective clients via phone, text, and email to assess their readiness for coaching.
- Maintaining advanced knowledge of the Mastering Diabetes Coaching program offerings and how they differ from other options in the marketplace.
- Completing the client enrollment process with every new client .
- Tracking communication for proper follow-up.
- Provide suggestions to improve the sales and enrollment process and ways to better serve our clients.
- Interact with potential clients with respect and professionalism.
- Treat confidential information confidentially.
- Participate in team meetings as necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Must be comfortable leading a conversation and guiding prospective clients through the sales process.
- Must have 2-3 years minimum experience with sales.
- Must be self-motivated, self-sufficient and able to properly manage one’s own time.
- Must have flexible availability to work as scheduled which may occur on weekends or evenings in addition to regular business hours.
- Must provide your own computer and internet connection. Client communication will occur via an internet connection.
- Must be committed to self-improvement and accepting of feedback.
- Must have basic knowledge about health, wellness, diabetes and insulin resistance.
Work Environment
Our team is 100% remote! We have flexible schedules and communicate frequently. We have a fun, uplifting, accountable environment so we all perform our best. You will need a quiet interruption free location to be able to perform your role.
We utilize technology to communicate as a team and host virtual meetings. We use software such as Zoom, Trello, G Suite, and Slack.
We’re excited to provide detailed training via video modules, recordings as well as live video conference training. Total estimated time period from training to operation on your own is approximately 1 month.

Position Description
A Mastering Diabetes health coach assesses client lifestyle, addresses health concerns and goals and then works with clients directly to make behavioral, nutritional and other recommendations in order to reverse insulin resistance, promote better health and wellness utilizing the tools in the Mastering Diabetes Method.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Health Coach
- Contact and perform initial interviews with individuals who are eligible for Mastering Diabetes coaching programs.
- Provide necessary coaching to reduce or eliminate behaviors that are not in alignment with the Mastering Diabetes method.
- Identify behavior and habit changes to help clients transform their lives.
- Help clients create and implement effective solutions to improve their health and wellness.
- Provide necessary feedback to ensure coaching clients are utilizing the method outlined in the Mastering Diabetes course.
- Support the operational aspects of Mastering Diabetes in order to promote client satisfaction.
- Direct clients to resources either created by Mastering Diabetes or approved by Mastering Diabetes management
- Develop care plans that are custom-tailored to individual clients and update as they move through the coaching program.
- Facilitate sessions with clients via Zoom video conference, telephone, email, and text messages
- Use general knowledge of medical conditions, nutrition, and diet to partner with clients and their providers.
- Identify behavior and habit changes to help clients transform their lives.
- Provide motivation, guidance, support, and encouragement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience
You must have at least one of the following credentials:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Registered Dietician (RD)
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) (formerly Certified Diabetes Educator — CDE)
- Graduated from a coaching training program (Approved by the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching is preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in a field such as health education, nursing, or nutrition.
Work Environment
The work environment of a health coach with Mastering Diabetes is 100% remote or work-from-home. We utilize technology to communicate as a team and host virtual meetings using software like Zoom and Slack.
