A Refreshing Tropical Gazpacho with Sweet Mango, Citrus, and a Spicy Kick
This Spicy Mango Gazpacho puts a tropical twist on the classic chilled soup, combining juicy mango, sweet navel oranges, creamy avocado, and a lively blend of jalapeño, ginger, garlic, and fresh herbs. The result is a smooth, refreshing soup with a delicious balance of sweetness, acidity, and gentle heat.
Ready in just 10 minutes with no cooking required, this colorful gazpacho is perfect for warm days when you want something light yet satisfying. With 13 grams of fiber per serving, it offers a refreshing way to enjoy whole fruits, fresh herbs, and vegetables in one vibrant plant-based dish.

Mango Creates a Naturally Sweet and Creamy Soup Base
Mango is the star of this gazpacho, providing its beautiful golden color, tropical sweetness, and smooth consistency. Unlike traditional tomato-based gazpacho, this version uses ripe mango to create a naturally sweet foundation that pairs surprisingly well with savory ingredients and spicy seasonings.
Mango also provides vitamin C, folate, fiber, and carotenoids such as beta-carotene. These naturally occurring plant compounds contribute to its nutritional value, while its fiber helps make whole mango more satisfying than fruit juice alone.
Navel Oranges Add Bright Citrus Flavor and Vitamin C
Navel oranges bring a refreshing citrus note that balances the mango's sweetness. Their natural acidity works alongside the lime juice to brighten the soup, preventing the tropical fruit flavors from becoming overly sweet.
Oranges are especially known for their vitamin C content, an essential nutrient involved in immune function, collagen production, and antioxidant protection. They also provide flavonoids such as hesperidin, a citrus compound that researchers have studied for its potential cardiovascular and metabolic effects.

Avocado Adds Creaminess Without Dairy
Avocado gives this gazpacho its smooth, velvety texture without the need for cream, yogurt, or other dairy ingredients. Just half an avocado is blended into the entire recipe, creating a rich consistency while allowing the mango and citrus flavors to remain the focus.
Avocado provides fiber, potassium, folate, and predominantly monounsaturated fats. Its mild flavor also helps soften the heat from the jalapeño and creates a pleasant contrast with the tangy lime juice.
Jalapeño, Ginger, and Garlic Bring a Spicy Kick
The combination of jalapeño, fresh ginger, garlic, and shallot transforms this fruit-based soup into a savory, refreshing gazpacho. Jalapeño contributes heat, ginger adds a warm, peppery note, and garlic and shallot provide aromatic depth.
Jalapeños contain capsaicinoids, the compounds responsible for their characteristic spiciness. Ginger contains naturally occurring compounds such as gingerols, while garlic and shallots provide sulfur-containing compounds and other phytonutrients. Together, these ingredients add complexity without requiring added oil.

Basil and Mint Add a Refreshing Herbal Finish
Fresh basil and mint give this gazpacho a fragrant, cooling quality that complements its tropical ingredients. Basil adds a slightly sweet, peppery aroma, while mint contributes a refreshing finish that balances the jalapeño and ginger.
Both herbs contain naturally occurring polyphenols and aromatic compounds, but their greatest contribution to this recipe is flavor. Combined with lime juice and a touch of tamari, they help bring together the sweet, savory, and spicy elements of the soup.
Bring It All Together
This Spicy Mango Gazpacho combines tropical sweetness with savory spices and fresh herbs for a refreshing alternative to traditional chilled soups. Mango and oranges create a naturally sweet foundation, while avocado adds creaminess and jalapeño, ginger, garlic, and lime provide a flavorful contrast.
With 13 grams of fiber per serving and no cooking required, it's an easy way to enjoy a colorful, whole-food, plant-based meal in just 10 minutes. Whether served as a light lunch, a refreshing starter, or a cooling dish on a warm afternoon, this tropical gazpacho brings something unexpected and delicious to the table.
