What Robby Ate #15 – The Kylie Cyrus Wedding

Our very own Cyrus Khambatta, PhD recently married Kylie Buckner, RN, the woman of his dreams in Tulum, Mexico.

We celebrated for one week with family and friends, and had a blast in the hot sun. Kylie is smart, beautiful and a lovely person to be around. She is a registered nurse with more than 15 years of clinical experience, and will be with us at our next Mastering Diabetes Retreat from July 13-17, 2017.

In this video I show how I managed type 1 diabetes while on vacation, away from my home environment. You’ll see how I managed my food intake and insulin use on the day of the Kylie Cyrus wedding. Admittedly, most weddings are more challenging than their 100% plant-based wedding, but I still hope that you find this experience very helpful.

In this video you’ll learn the following:

  • How I use a food scale even when I’m on the road
  • How I guess-and-check my meal and insulin dosing when using a food scale is impractical
  • How to food shop in a foreign country
  • How to choose ripe fruit at the market
  • How I discovered that fruit residue on my finger gave me a phantom high blood glucose reading

If you enjoyed this video, you might like the other vlog that I did while in Tulum, which you can see here.
