Thanks for Taking the Insulin Resistance Quiz!
Your Level of Insulin Resistance is:
HIGH
Here's an Analysis of Your Responses...

Your Diet is Quite High in Fat
Based on your answers, you are either eating a significant amount of animal products. Evidence-based research consistently shows that people who eat vegetarian and vegan diets and at a lower risk for the development of insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, and many chronic diseases, and those that eat meat and dairy products are at a higher risk for insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease. Your diet may be high in saturated fat, which increases your level of insulin resistance.

Your Risk for Heart Disease is High
Did you know that people living with all forms of diabetes are at a significantly increased risk for cardiovascular disease? It’s true. When your blood glucose becomes variable, your insulin concentration can also become quite variable, and these in turn can cause extensive damage to the single cell layer lining blood vessels all over your body. With a high level of insulin resistance, your risk for heart disease is significantly elevated, and reducing your total fat (and especially saturated fat) intake can significantly reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease.

You Risk for Cancer is Elevated
Did you know that living with insulin resistance dramatically increases your risk for the development of many types of cancer? The more insulin resistant you become, the higher your global cell proliferation rate can become, which sets the stage for the development of tumors that can metastasize to other tissues. With a high level of insulin resistance, your risk for the development of tumors in many tissues is elevated.

Your Liver and Kidneys Are Likely Inflamed
Your risk for both fatty liver disease and chronic kidney disease are significantly increased as your level of insulin resistance increases. Think of your liver as “metabolic command central” and think of your kidney as a giant net that filters your blood to pull out waste compounds. As you become more insulin resistant, you significantly increase the workload of both tissues, resulting in an inflammatory state that can result in both liver and kidney dysfunction. At a high level of insulin resistance, your risk for both is dramatically increased.
Our Recommendation For You...
We recommend reducing your intake of animal foods and dramatically reducing your total fat intake while eating more fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. Doing so will dramatically increase your insulin sensitivity.
